This summer marks the second summer of our front window box. This summer I decided to use pinks, light yellows and purples. I don't know about everyone else, but I tend to get excited at the garden center and purchase too many flowers! I over stuffed my window box this year, so we shall see how it turns out later this summer!

I used Superbena Stomburst verbena, Supertunia Vista Bubblegum petunia, white bacopa, Allyson, Lemom Licorice, Supercal Sunset orange petunia and Americana Pink geranium.

Last year we added a climbing rose next to our window box. This year it growing well and in full bloom! The variety is First Editions Above and Beyond. This variety is winter hardy and grows to about 10 feet tall. We are thinking about extending our trellis so this beauty can climb up the side of our house.

Happy Gardening,

Rachel

Spring is finally here in Minnesota! This past weekend Jake and I went to our favorite garden center, Gerten's for a spring greenhouse tour and to pick up supplies for a spring window box.

Every time I go on a Gerten's greenhouse tour I learn something new about their huge operation along with flower growing tips. This year we learned how different watering techniques are important for disease control in greenhouses. If you are local and have not been on a Gerten's greenhouse tour, I highly recommend! It is fascinating to see the 10 acres of indoor growing space. The greenhouses were full and bursting with color! I gained so much inspiration on color and plant combinations. I cannot wait to get my hands on all the beautiful summer plants in about a month!

Of course we could not go to Gerten's without picking up some plants! I picked up some pansies, ranunculus, lemon ball sedum and goldilocks for our window box. All of these varieties are cold tolerant. What is great about using lemon ball sedum and goldilocks as a spring filler is when it comes to planting in May I can reuse both all summer. I have yet to plan my summer window box, but will plan to coordinate colors around the lemon ball sedum and goldilocks. If you have been a reader for awhile you know how much I love to use goldilocks when planting!

I have been on the hunt for a great pair of jeans for a few years now. Maybe it's just me, but a good pair of jeans that fits in all the right places is so difficult to find! Being a millennial, I typically gravitate towards straight or skinny cuts. When I saw these jeans featured on StacieFlinner.com I knew I had to give them a try!

These jeans are by Agolde. I typically don't like to pay full price for denim, but this pair checked all the boxes. The cut is very flattering on many body types, they are high waisted which I love, and the fabric is high quality. I usually love a darker wash pair of denim, but I love the wash on these jeans! The pocket placement on the back is perfect and makes your bum look great! Instead of a zipper, these jeans have a button fly which help to suck you in! They run true to size and do stretch once you have them on for a half hour. I would recommend ordering your normal size or size down one size.

I styled these jeans with a cotton sweater, a vintage silk scarf and my favorite pair of Sarah Flint Natalie flats. You can use my code SARAHFLINT-CCRACHEL3 for 15% off your purchase!
